* 225g raisins
* 225g currants
* 170g fresh brown breadcrumbs
* 55g blanched almonds, or pecans - chopped
* 55g glace cherries, quartered
* 55g light muscavado sugar
* 2 tbsp grated orange zest
* 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* 1 teaspoon grated nutmeg
* 1/4 tsp ground cloves
* 3 large eggs
* 150ml port
* 6 tablespoons brandy

Put all ingredients into a large bowl ans mix well.
Mix liquid ingredients and eggs in another bowl and mix togwether
Add liquid to dry ingredients, make your wish and leave overnight
Put into basin. Cover with a layer of greasproof paper and then another of foil (allow an envelope fold so can expand)fasten tightly with string
Steam for 3 hours
Can be kept for ages - on Christmas day steam for 2 hours having first replaced foil covering
