Remember to put in in the order that your bread maker specifies. As most of you seem to have Panasonics, this is the order I’ve listed them in.
To make a 450g loaf:
1.5tsp yeast
150g gram/graham flour
175g bread flour
half tsp salt
2tbsp molasses
1tbsp vegetable oil
175ml water
This recipe is taken from the Bread Machine Book and I must say that so far, everything I’ve tried making from that book in my breadmaker has failed insofar as the bread has come out like a brick, but really tasty. Hard to tell if this is the way it’s meant to be, or not. I suspect the quantities aren’t right for my (Panasonic) bread maker. I haven’t made this by hand yet but I’d imagine it would work just as well.
Put ingredients in your machine in the order your instruction booklet recommends then set for wholemeal bread.
I must warn you that it looks like it’s not risen (perhaps it hasn’t) and is like a brick, I almost threw my first attempt out. But I really really liked it - although it may not be to everyone’s taste.
